Elise's notes
A calm baking studio for floral cakes, soft loaves, and trustworthy recipes.
Welcome to Lavender & Loaf Studio. I’m Elise Hartwell, a recipe developer & baking editor, and I created this site for home bakers who want recipes that feel calm, beautiful, and genuinely usable.
My work focuses on lavender baking, soft loaves, honey cakes, weekend cookies, tea bakes, breakfast breads, and small batch recipes. I am especially interested in floral baking that tastes balanced rather than perfumed. Lavender should be measured with care, honey should support the crumb, and every recipe should make sense in an ordinary home kitchen.
Lavender & Loaf Studio is a quiet recipe journal for bakers who want the comfort of a weekend loaf and the refinement of a small bakery window. Every recipe is written with balance in mind: lavender should whisper, honey should deepen rather than dominate, and a soft crumb should be achievable without professional equipment.
The recipes on this site are original and written for home use. I aim to provide clear measurements, practical timing ranges, visual cues, storage notes, and answers to common questions. Baking is affected by oven temperature, pan material, ingredient brands, and kitchen climate, so I include cues that help you adjust with confidence.
How recipes are developed
I test recipes in a home kitchen with ordinary pans, accessible ingredients, and repeatable methods. When lavender is used, I keep the flavor intentionally restrained and often pair it with honey, citrus, chamomile, or butter so the result tastes fragrant rather than soapy.
Thank you for baking here. I hope this studio helps your weekend feel a little softer.
